| Service Description: | There is still legal aid funding for mediation. Family Matters offers legally aided mediation about arrangements for children following separation or divorce.
When the arrangements for children cannot be agreed, mediation offers a way of making those decisions. Mediation improves communication by reducing the chance of misunderstanding and arguments . We also recognise that mediation can involve other family members for example grandparents.
Family Matters offers financial mediation for couples who wish to reach agreement about finances and property following their separation or divorce.
We can also offer Child Consultation, at times of family separation many children feel left out of the decision making process and do not feel their voices are heard or listened to. Mediation encourages parents to work together to sort things out in a way that seeks to minimise conflict and find positive outcomes for themselves and their children.
Clients are assessed at an initial meeting to see if their costs will be covered by the Legal Aid Agency referrals can be via the website or telephone.
